Competive Swimming

Competitive swimming is a fantastic sport. From young swimmers having their first taste of the excitement of racing in a gala, through to national level swimmers executing the perfect race after months of training, the racing, emotion and atmosphere is electric. Swimming clubs are the best place for young swimmers to begin their journey of securing all the key skills required to become a fast and efficient swimmer.

Bristol Penguins are primarily based at Easton Leisure Centre, with training taking place here on 4 nights a week. 4 competitive squads train four times a week at Hengrove Park Leisure Centre. The Swim Academy programme takes place at Badminton School and also at other pools across the city.

Training with the right level of swimmers is vital to making secure progress. The Swim Academy teaches swimmers through to Stage 8 and then competitive swimmers progress through the Development Squads. Beyond that there are a wide range of higher level performance squads.

In order to find out the cost of joining a suitable swimming club, it is best to contact the Membership Secretary at the relevant swimming club. Prices vary depending on the level of the squad and therefore the number of weekly training sessions being offered.
